Flat Rock Speedway

Saturday night saw the series move to the high banks of the Flat Rock Speedway and young Scott Menlen was looking to gain some redemption for the night before and was not about to finish second to anybody, no matter how good they were or how much experience they had.
Menlen took the first heat over Rick Kilbourn and leading Rookie, Chance Rice in the Catt development #38. Frank Jiovani took the second heat over Butch Polson in the #03 Polson Racing machine and Matt Todd in the #8 machine. The third heat saw Ryan Meldrum grab the checkers over Randy Gallagher Sr. and Ben Rouster.
With Ben Rouster leading the race Menlen was busy getting up to the front to challenge for the lead. Menlen was not going to be denied this night as he was on a mission to catch Rouster and try to get the lead. Menlen finally caught Rouster in lapped traffic and was able to gain the lead from Ben Rouster just as brother Levi had done the night before. Menlen was able to hold on and take his first ever Legends Car feature win over the machine of Frank Jiovani. Ben Rouster held on for third while Levi Rouster and Rick Kilbourn in the Fourth Street Auto machine rounded out the top five. Sixth through tenth were Jerry Warden in the #22, Randy Gallagher Sr., Rick McColl, Chance Rice, and Randy Gallagher Jr.
The win was especially sweet for the entire Menlen family as it made for a great Father’s Day gift from Scott to both his Dad Jeff and his Grandpa who are always there at the track supporting him and keeping him going.
